Applications Open To Become Aurora's First Poet Laureate

"We need someone who can help tell our story in a poetic and empowering way," Mayor Richard Irvin said.

AURORA, IL — Applications are now open to become Aurora's first-ever poet laureate. Mayor Richard Irvin said in a statement that the poet laureate will be able to tell the story of Aurora "in a poetic and empowering way."

The poet laureate will use poetry to share Aurora's story, from it natural beauty to its rich diversity. To apply, you must be a poet, a full-time Aurora resident, and have availability to take part in public events, including ribbon cuttings, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
