Aurora 2019 Election Results, Reactions

AURORA, IL — The race for Aurora city council, aldermen and school board members was set for April 2. Early voting began on March 18 throughout DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will Counties.

Here's who was on the ballot and projected vote totals:

ALDERMAN

Ward 1

Four people were vying to be alderman of Aurora's first ward. Emmaneul S. Llamas emerged victorious with 41 percent of votes, according to unofficial totals. The numbers were as follows:

Amanda Sperzel: 35 percent

Peter Aguilera: 7 percent

Emmanuel S. Llamas: 41 percent

Caryl Riley: 15 percent

Ward 3

Theodoros "Ted" Mesiacos ran an uncontested race for alderman of Aurora's third ward.

Ward 5

Three candidates threw their hats in the ring to serve as alderman of Aurora's fifth ward and Carl Franco won the race with a sizable lead, according to unofficial totals.

Bonnie Lee Kunkel: 23 percent

Casildo Casey Cuevas: 13 percent

Carl Franco: 62 percent

Ward 6

Aurora's 6th Ward had four candidates running to be alderman. With 65 percent of votes, according to unofficial totals, Michael B. Saville led the numbers.

Michael B. Saville: 65 percent

Matt Harrington: 13 percent

Dan Hites: 9 percent

Matthew J. Orr: 12 percent

City of Aurora Alderman at Large

Sherman L. Jenkins: 48 percent

Durrell E. Williams: 15 percent

Brooke Ann Shanley: 36 percent

SCHOOL BOARDS

Aurora West School District 129

Four seats were available on the Aurora West School District 129 Board of Education. The seats were filled by newcomer Thomas St. Jules and incumbents Robert Gonzalez, Ira O. Lathan, and Melody A. Saperston, according to unofficial results.

Aurora East School District 131

Four candidates ran for four seats in the uncontested race for Aurora East School District 131. The candidates were:
