Aurora Child Sex Abuser Gets 68 Years In Prison: Authorities

He was convicted of sexually abusing and assaulting two children between 2011 and 2016.

AURORA, IL — A 30-year-old Aurora man who was convicted of sexually abusing and assaulting two children has been sentenced to 68 years in prison. Arturo Sanchez, of the 600 block of Gates Ave., was convicted on charges of criminal sexual assault, predatory sexual assault, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse after a three-day trial in June.

The charges against Sanchez stemmed from a five-year period between 2011 and 2016 in which he sexually abused and assaulted two young children whom he knew, according to Kane County State's Attorney's Office. Sanchez faced a minimum sentence of 33 years, but was handed down a 68-year sentence Friday and must now register as a sex offender for life.

In the wake of the sentencing, Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Debra Bree said, "These victims’ strength helped us to prove that Mr. Sanchez is a sexual predator who belongs in prison where he can no longer harm innocent children."
