AURORA, IL — It's been nearly nine months since Officer Adam Miller was on duty with the Aurora Police Department. Miller, who was shot in the face during the Henry Pratt shooting on Feb. 15, returned to duty Tuesday, one week after a fellow officer Rey Rivera, who was also injured in the deadly shooting.

"I'm shot — still in the fight," Miller said during the shooting.

"[Miller's] resilience and fighting spirit have been an inspiration to us all," Aurora police chief Kristen Ziman said in a Facebook post.

Miller returned to duty during the midnight shift Tuesday. Rivera, who was shot in the leg, was back on duty last week, according to the post. Rivera was able to recover full use of his leg after physical therapy, Ziman wrote.

She added, "On behalf of a grateful police department, thank you for the love and support you have given our officers as they have fought their way back to wellness."
