Aurora Cops Help Teen's Lemonade Stand Reach Goal

Members of the Aurora Police Department surprised the teen with a check made from officer donations.

AURORA, IL — On a hot summer day, there's nothing quite like a glass of ice-cold lemonade to keep members of the Aurora Police Department smiling. Unless, of course, it's making a donation to help a local lemonade stand reach its goal.

That's exactly what officers from Aurora's Community-Oriented team did Friday afternoon when they visited a lemonade stand that's been a tradition in its neighborhood for eight years. The lemonade stand, which is run by a local teen named Savannah, donates its profits to the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, which provides food for Aurora families who are in need.

In a post on social media, the Aurora Police Department said the officers each made donations to support Savannah. On Friday, officers came to Savannah's lemonade stand to present a check from the donations to give her a boost as she worked toward her goal.
