Aurora Curfew Extended Through Tuesday Morning: Mayor Irvin

Aurora will again be under a curfew from 8:30 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Mayor Richard Irvin announced Monday.

AURORA, IL — Aurora's 8:30 p.m. curfew will remain in place for at least another day, Mayor Richard Irvin announced Monday afternoon. Aurora police are also closing down Interstate 88 exit ramps during the curfew to keep non-residents from entering the city.

Protests on Sunday remained peaceful for more than four hours before giving way to looting and violent clashes with police in downtown Aurora.

Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin, Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain and Chairman Chris Lauzen on Sunday enacted a curfew from 8:30 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. for Aurora Township, which will again be in place Monday night.
