Aurora Firefighters Rescue Teen Girl From Burning Home
A 15-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital in serious condition Saturday morning, according to fire officials.

AURORA, IL — Aurora firefighters saved a 15-year-old girl from a burning house Saturday morning on the city’s east side, according to fire officials. As members of the Aurora Fire Department reached a blaze in the 1200 block of 5th Street, they heard someone calling for help from inside the home, which was billowing smoke from all sides, according to a news release.
Firefighters forced their way into the home and rescued the girl, who was transported to a local hospital in serious condition due to smoke inhalation, the release states. A 19-year-old woman was also treated at a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation, according to fire officials. A dog and a cat escaped the home as firefighters rescued the girl from inside, the release states.

Three residents are receiving housing assistance after the home was determined to be uninhabitable, according to fire officials. A total of 32 firefighters put out the blaze within 15 minutes of reaching the home, but the flames had already caused $75,000 in damage, the release states. No firefighters were injured.
