
AURORA, IL — Two recent Aurora fires caused an estimated total dollar loss of $40,000.
At 1:58 a.m. Nov. 13, a fire started in an exterior wall around the fireplace of a single family home in the 2400 block of Worthington Drive on the far west side of Aurora. It took firefighters about an hour to fully extinguish the fire, according to a news release from the Aurora Fire Department. The family was alerted of the fire when they smelled smoke and the smoke detectors activated. The family was able to safely evacuate the home and call 911. There were no injuries report to firefighters or civilians. The cause fire was due impart to a fire they had in the fireplace the prior evening. The structure sustained heavy smoke damage, however the family was planning on staying in the home.
At 9:51 a.m. Nov. 14, a fire started in a rear porch area of a home in 900 block of Lakeridge Court on the far east side of Aurora after a homemade candle was accidently tipped over. It took firefighters about an hour to fully extinguish the fire. Fire damage was contained to the rear exterior wall and porch.
