Aurora To Host Inaugural Bolivian Flag-Raising Ceremony

Bolivian Independence Day also marks the first anniversary of Alice's Corner, said to be the first full-service Bolivian restaurant in IL.

AURORA, IL — The City of Aurora is hosting its first-ever Bolivian flag-raising ceremony Friday.

The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. at One Aurora Plaza, 8 E. Galena Blvd.

Bolivian Independence Day also marks the one-year anniversary of Alice's Corner, the first full-service Bolivian restaurant to open in Illinois, according to city officials. The downtown Aurora eatery is celebrating by providing free empanadas to guests Friday, while supplies last.

Before Alice's Corner opened at 37 W. New York St., owner Alicia Butron served her popular empanadas at the Aurora Farmers Market for nearly a decade. The restaurant serves a variety of cuisines native to Bolivia.
