Aurora To Inaugurate Newly Elected City Officials

AURORA, IL -- Aurora will inaugurate its newly elected and re-elected members of city council during a special ceremony on May 7. The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Copley Theater, located at 8 E. Galena Blvd.

The swearing-in ceremony brings two brand new members to Aurora's City Council. Alderman-elect Emmanuel Llamas will take over duties in the city's First Ward and Alderman-elect Patty Smith will be sworn in to replace retiring Eight Ward Alderman Rick Mervine.

The event will also feature aldermen and alderwomen who are to their current roles. These include Alderman-At-Large Sherman L. Jenkins, Third Ward Alderman Ted Mesiacos, Fifth Ward Alderman Carl Franco, and Sixth Ward Alderman Mike Saville.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the swearing-in ceremony is open to members of the public on a first come, first served basis. Once the ceremony is over, city officials will take part in a meet and greet with local residents.
