Aurora Inmate Charged With Defecating On Jail Cell Floor

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man faces multiple charges after police say he hid cannabis in his hair and defecated on the floor and smeared feces in the jail cell. Police say Jose Barragan, 21, of the first block of Anderson Street, also tried to flood the jail cell by clogging the toilet with a bed sheet.

According to police, Barragan was being booked on charges related to a shots fired incident in the first block of State Street when police found contraband that appeared to be cannabis hidden in his hair. About two hours after Barragan was taken into custody, police say he started banging on and kicking the door of his jail cell.

Police say Barragan tried to use a bed sheet to clog the toilet and flood his cell, but was placed into a different jail cell. According to police, Barragan yelled, kicked and punched the cell window.

Police say Barragan then was seen "dropping his pants and defecating on the floor," according to a news release. The news release said Barragan then used his hands to "pick up the waste and smear the feces on the cell window and door window."

Barragan was charged with criminal damage to state property and criminal damage to government property in connection with the alleged incident.
