Aurora Man, 38, Dies After House Burns Down: Coroner

The Kane County Coroner's Office said the preliminary cause of death appears to be smoke inhalation after his house caught fire Sunday.

AURORA, IL — A 38-year-old man died after firefighters saved him from a burning multifamily house Sunday, according to the Kane County Coroner's Office.

Officials at the coroner's office told Patch Marco A. Terrell's preliminary cause of death is smoke inhalation. A final determination is pending toxicology reports.

Terrell was one of five people, some of whom were hanging out second-floor windows, pulled from a burning house on Jackson Street. The fire, according to the Aurora Fire Department, started around 6:12 a.m. Sunday.

While searching the house for people trapped, firefighters found Terrell unconscious and not breathing in the basement. He was taken outside to the driveway and treated there before an ambulance took him to the hospital in critical condition, Patch reported.
