Aurora Man Charged In 2017 Christmas Day Crash
Savaughn A. Strickland, 33, of Aurora, has been charged with 7 counts of aggravated DUI in a 2017 crash that left 5 hospitalized.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man has been charged with several counts of aggravated DUI in a 2017 Christmas Day head-on crash in Little Rock Township that landed several people in the hospital. According to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, an investigation by detectives led to 33-year-old Savaughn A. Strickland, of the 0-20 block of Loucks Street, being charged on Aug. 29 by the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office with one count of driving while his license was revoked and seven counts of aggravated DUI.
During the afternoon of Dec. 25, 2017, sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a head-on collision in the 13000 block of Galena Road. The sheriff's office said in a Facebook post that a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Strickland was headed west on Galena Road when his Trailblazer collided with a 2004 Trailblazer, driven by then-80-year-old Janice S. Armstrong. Armstrong, of the 1600 block of Delray Drive in Aurora, was taken by helicopter in critical condition to Good Samaritan Hospital. Another passenger, then-55-year-old Cassie Armstrong, was also hospitalized in critical condition.

Patch reported Strickland was hospitalized in critical condition, in addition to Douglas Duffy, 58, of Sandwich, and Ashley Robinson, 27, of Aurora, who were both passengers in Strickland's Trailblazer. An 8-year-old girl from Aurora, also a passenger in Strickland's car, was also hospitalized.
According to the sheriff's office, a warrant was issued for Strickland, with a $1 million bond with 10 percent to apply. Right now Strickland is in the Kane County Justice Center for an unrelated incident.
