Aurora Man Charged In Florida Avenue Shooting That Wounded Man

AURORA, IL — A 19-year-old Aurora man faces felony charges in connection with a shooting that left another 19-year-old man injured. Daron Bovan, of the 400 block of Florida Avenue has been charged with unlawful possession of weapons or ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID in connection with the Jan. 4 shooting.

Police say they were called to a home in the 400 block of Florida Avenue around 2 a.m. and found a man who had been grazed by a bullet. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to a press release from the Aurora Police Department.

Aurora police say they interviewed witnesses and found that there had been a "social gathering" at the home and that Bovan had fired multiple gunshots before fleeing. Police arrested Bovan without incident and say the shooting was not a random act.
