Aurora Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 2 Girls

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man faces multiple felony charges after two women came forward to say he sexually assaulted them multiple times while they were children. Manuel Marquez-Garcia, 57, of the first block of North Gregory Street, was arrested Monday and charged with 17 counts of sexual assault after a police investigation.

According to police, the women came forward in January to say that Marquez-Garcia assaulted them while they were between the ages of 9 and 16 years old. Police say they spoke with potential witnesses and looked into "all aspects of the allegations" during their investigation.

Marquez-Garcia was charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual assault, four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13.

If convicted, Marquez-Garcia will have to register as a sex offender.
