Aurora Man Charged With Strangling, Slapping Friend
Jerome Newson, 34, was charged with aggravated domestic battery in connection with the incident.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man faces felony charges after police say he strangled and slapped a person with whom he was in a domestic relationship. Jerome D. Newson, 34, of the 2100 block of Best Place, was charged with aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery with prior convictions in connection with the incident.
According to Kane County State's Attorney's Office, Newson and the other person got into an argument and that Newson "strangled the victim with both hands, preventing the victim from breathing." Newson is also accused of slapping the other person in the face and causing bruises, police say.
Newson was released after promising to appear in court. He has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and must surrender any firearms to police.

Newson is set to appear in court on May 21.
