Aurora Man Convicted of Sexually Abusing Young Child
A jury found the local man guilty on several sexual assault charges late Wednesday.

AURORA, IL - A 38-year-old Aurora man was convicted late Wednesday of sexually assaulting a young child he knew.
A jury found Armando Romero-Gutierrez, of the 100 block of South LaSalle Street, guilty on two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and 16 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a Kane County State's Attorney's Office press release.
Prosecutors presented evidence that between June 2010 and June 2014 Romero-Gutierrez sexually assaulted and sexually abused a young child he knew. The victim was younger than 12 years old at the time, according to the news release.

Romero-Gutierrez now faces a sentence of between 15 and 67 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A sentencing hearing has been set for May 20.
In addition to the prison term, Romero-Gutierrez must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

Romero-Gutierrez remains in custody at the Kane County jail, where he had been held since his arrest in lieu of $750,000 bail. Bond was revoked upon conviction, according to the news release.
