Aurora Man Found Guilty Of Severely Injuring 2-Month-Old Daughter
The 28-year-old man battered his daughter after he learned his girlfriend was romantically involved with someone else, officials said.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man has been found guilty of two aggravated battery charges after severely injuring his 2-month-old daughter in January 2021, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
On the evening of January 10, 2021, 28-year-old Brian Clemente was with his girlfriend and their two young children at their Aurora home when he learned his partner was romantically involved with someone else. Intoxicated and angry, the man repeatedly asked her if he was the father of their 2-month-old daughter. After his girlfriend went to bed, officials said he took the infant from her bedroom and severely beat and kicked her, causing "significant injuries," according to evidence presented by Assistant State’s Attorneys Amanda Busljeta and Jessica Finley.
Officials said while the baby continues to recover from her injuries, doctors don't know if she will fully recover.

"Mr. Clemente failed at his most important responsibility, which was to care for his vulnerable children," Busljeta said in a statement. "This infant depended on him to keep her safe, and not only did he let her down, he egregiously inflicted injuries that were so severe she might never recover from them."
Judge John A. Barsanti found Clemente — who waived his right to a jury trial — guilty of aggravated battery to a child causing great bodily harm and aggravated domestic battery causing great bodily harm. The man remains in custody at the Kane County jail, where he has been held in lieu of a $1 million bail since his arrest.

Clemente faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison at the Illinois Department of Corrections. His next court appearance, for motions and sentencing, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. July 21.
The Aurora man's bond was revoked upon conviction, officials said.
