Aurora Man Gets 12 Years for Sexually Assaulting Child
Prosecutors say the 25-year-old Aurora man knew the child.

An Aurora man is headed to prison for sexually assaulting a young child he knew.
Martin A. Munoz-Perez, 25, of the 1100 block of Bangs Street, was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to predatory criminal sexual assault, according to a press release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors presented evidence that between October 2012 and November 2013 Munoz-Perez sexually assaulted the victim, whom he knew. The victim was younger than 12 years old at the time, according to the release.

In addition to the prison term, Munoz-Perez must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.
According to Illinois law, Munoz-Perez must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He was given credit for 576 days served in the Kane County jail.
