Aurora Man Wore Wife's Dress, Wig To Shoot Her Lover: Prosecutors

Authorities say jealousy drove Jermaine Baker to shoot the sleeping man in August 2014.

AURORA, IL — Prosecutors said Jermaine Baker had already filed for divorce from his then-wife, but after he snooped on her cell phone in August 2014 and discovered she was seeing someone new, he flew into a jealous rage. During the first day of Baker's trial Monday in Kane County, prosecutors said Baker, then 36, donned one of his wife's dresses and a wig and wore gloves when he crept into the Aurora home of her new lover, according to the Beacon-News.

Baker is accused of entering the sleeping man's bedroom, turning on the light and kicking the bed to wake him before opening fire as the victim lay in bed.

Prosecutors said Baker was holding a rope and a handgun as he asked the man, "How do you want to die?" before pulling the trigger, according to the Beacon.

Shortly after Baker's September 2014 arrest, police said the shooting stemmed from a "personal issue" between the two men.

Kane County court records show Baker's divorce was finalized in 2015.

Baker's trial entered its second day on Tuesday.
