Aurora Mayor Irvin Honored For Supporting Small Businesses
Mayor Irvin will receive the award on Sept. 9.
AURORA, IL - Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin has been selected for an award from the U.S. Conference of Mayors for his work supporting small businesses. Irvin was chosen for the 2019 Small Business Advocate award from a pool of 1,400 mayors from across the U.S. who are part of the conference.
"As a small business owner, I remember the red tape I had to cut through to open my business many years ago," Irvin said in a statement.
"As mayor, I knew we needed to streamline the process for new businesses and strengthen the support for existing businesses," he added.

Irvin will be visited by representatives from the D.C.-based U.S. Conference of Mayors in Aurora on Sept. 9 for a special award presentation. He'll tout the growth of Aurora's small businesses, along with the city's overall economic health.
