AURORA, IL — An incoming snowstorm and potential inclement weather next week have caused Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry to reschedule and relocate its monthly Women's Empowerment Mobile Pantry.

Heavy snowfall will develop Thursday afternoon and continue into early Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches are possible, along with a light glaze of ice, Patch reported.

The fourth monthly distribution of food and household products was originally set for Thursday at Mutual Ground, the domestic violence shelter in Aurora. The event has been rescheduled to take place indoors at Calvary Church of Naperville, 9S200 Route 59, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24, according to a news release. Attendees should enter through doors 24 and 25 at the northwest corner of the building.

The Aurora food pantry added the women's-only pantry to its mobile offerings following a grant from Aurora Women's Empowerment Foundation, a nonprofit formed in 2018 after the Aurora YMCA closed after almost 125 years.

"Our mission is to elevate and empower Aurora-area women and future women by making grants to tax-exempt nonprofits engaged in meaningful, measurable work that helps women over the hurdles of inequity and exclusion, propelling them forward with life-changing programs and services," AWE chair Amy Bauduin said in a statement.

The women's-only pantries are scheduled for the third Thursday of months in 2022, and locations will be announced as dates near.
