Aurora Parking Lot May Become a New Park

The total cost to the city would be $94,200.

Instead of a green paradise being turned into a parking lot, a parking lot may be turned into a park.

Aurora’s City Council Finance Committee has recommended the city purchase parking lots located behind Carson’s store in the Northgate Shopping Center in order to turn them into a park, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

Once the city makes the purchase, it will deed the property to the Fox Valley Park District, who will develop the park. The total cost to the city would be $94,200.

"This is a good use of what has been sitting there vacant, ugly for a long time," Alderman Finance Committee chairman Robert O'Connor told the paper.
