Aurora Parks, Playgrounds Closed Amid Coronavirus Shutdown

Mayor Richard Irvin said the change would be in effect through April 7.

AURORA, IL — Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin has announced that all parks and playgrounds will remain closed during the coronavirus shutdown.

The closure, which takes effect immediately, will last through April 7 and may last longer if Governor J.B. Pritzker extends the stay-at-home order he issued Friday.

Aurora is home to six community parks, including RiverEdge Park, McCarty Park and Phillips Park. The city also features close to a dozen neighborhood parks and playgrounds.
