Aurora Police, Firefighters To Hold 9/11 Memorial Ceremony Sunday
City officials will hold a special moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center.

AURORA, IL — To mark the 21st anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the Aurora Police Department and Aurora Fire Department will host a memorial ceremony.
The tribute will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Aurora Police Department, 1200 E. Indian Trail Road. Mayor Richard Irvin will be among officials joining first responders and community members at the event.
The memorial ceremony, open to the public, will feature a presentation of colors and a wreath-laying ceremony by the Aurora fire and police honor guards. Police Chief Keith Cross, Fire Chief Dave McCake and Irvin will offer remarks as well.

"On this solemn occasion, we will come together again to remember those who lost their lives on that fateful day," Irvin said in a statement. "We also remember the families of those who perished and all whose lives were forever changed after experiencing the tragedies of September 11, 2001."
