Aurora Police: Noise Ordinance Violators Face Hefty Fines

Violators can be issued a $250 fine for a first offense and $250 fine for additional offenses within one year.

AURORA, IL - Warmer weather has prompted the Aurora Police Department to issue their annual reminder of the city’s noise ordinance, which calls for hefty fines against violators.

Complaints of loud noise emanating from homes, vehicles and businesses typically increase as temperatures warm up. The noise ordinance has proven to be an important tool in fighting the problem as it allows Aurora Police officers to issue a citation to violators carrying a fine of $250 for the first offense and $500 for additional offenses within one year.

Issuance of the fines are based on a totality of circumstances including the time, day, type, and duration of the noise being emitted. Aurora’s complete noise ordinance can be reviewed by clicking on the Police Department tab on the city’s website at www.aurora-il.org.
