Aurora Secures $1M In Funding For Road Improvements
Upgrades are in the works at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Hill Avenue in Aurora.

AURORA, IL — Aurora secured $1 million in federal funding for improvements at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Hill Avenue, officials announced Wednesday.
Plans for the intersection include modernizing the traffic signals as well as reconstructing and widening the road to include additional through and turn lanes, bike paths and sidewalks. Americans With Disability Act-approved ramp improvements are also planned, as are drainage changes. The project is inclusive of the east leg of Montgomery Road that extends about 1,200 feet to connect the improved three-lane section for better traffic flow, officials said.
“The project is expected to greatly improve traffic capacity, traffic safety, and traffic operations, while minimizing environmental impacts,” officials said in a news release.City officials credited Congressman Bill Foster for helping securing the funding.
