Aurora Will Host Inaugural Irish Flag-Raising Ceremony

The ceremony will take place during a St. Patrick's Day event celebrating the Irish holiday as well as Irish American Heritage Month.

AURORA, IL — Aurora will host its inaugural Irish flag-raising ceremony as part of St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the city.

The flag-raising will take place during an event celebrating both St. Patrick's Day and Irish American Heritage Month March 17. The ceremony is set to start at 10 a.m. at One Aurora Plaza, 8 E. Galena Boulevard.

Ballydoyle, a downtown Aurora Irish pub and restaurant, along with the Doyle family, are collaborating with city officials to host the ceremony.

Performances by the McNulty Irish Dancers, presentations and a proclamation are all on the schedule for the St. Patrick's Day event. Officials said on Facebook that a "major announcement" is also planned during the celebration.
