Aurora's Police Chief Took Special Item To State Of Union Address

Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman was Rep. Bill Foster's guest at Tuesday's speech.

WASHINGTON, DC — Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman attended Tuesday's State of the Union address as U.S. Rep. Bill Foster's (D-Naperville) guest, and she brought a bit of Aurora with her. As she stood in our nation's capital, Ziman had the names of the victims of the Feb. 15, 2019, shooting at Henry Pratt Manufacturing written on a piece of paper and tucked in a pocket near her heart, she wrote in a post on Facebook.

Before she headed to her seat for the State of the Union address, Ziman wrote, "I want to say that I stand ready to represent the men and women of the Aurora Police Department that acted valiantly without regard for their own well-being on February 15, 2019. And in my pocket close to my heart, I carry the names of the victims. Aurorans, I represent all of you as well. Our dark days have made us stronger together."

She then thanked Congressman Foster for inviting her to be his guest.
