Bicyclist Airlifted To Hospital In Critical Condition After Crash With Car: Aurora Police

An SUV hit a woman, 67, on a bike at a crosswalk Thursday afternoon, police said.

AURORA, IL — A bicyclist, 67, was critically injured after an SUV crashed into her Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Montgomery and Walcott roads, Aurora police said.

A 64-year-old man driving a red Chevrolet SUV hit the woman at the crosswalk near the intersection, according to a Friday news release. The department's traffic division is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

The woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.

Any charges or traffic citations are pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.

Portions of Montgomery and Walcott roads were closed for several hours to allow investigators to document and process the scene.
