Birthday Of 102-Year-Old Aurora Resident Celebrated With Proclamation

Mayor Richard Irvin surprised the Aurora resident on her birthday by proclaiming March 19 each year as Amy Scott Day.

AURORA, IL — March 19 marked a special occasion in Aurora. Resident Amy Scott turned 102 and had the day named after her.

Scott gathered Tuesday with residents of Ascension Living Fox Knoll Village to celebrate her birthday with cake, a commemorative sign and a proclamation.

"I can't believe you all came out just to see me," Scott said, her a City of Aurora news release.

Mayor Richard Irvin surprised Scott by marking March 19 each year as Amy Scott Day in Aurora.

Scott retired in the early 1980s after working at the Dina Color Photo Lab in Aurora. She and her late husband, who passed away 10 years ago at the age of 92, have three children.

"Amy Scott is a legacy resident of Aurora who has left an indelible mark on our community in her 102 years," the proclamation reads.
