AURORA, IL — A 16-year-old boy was left with life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon after he was shot on Aurora's near east side. Police say multiple people were taken into custody in connection with the shooting, which was reported in the 600 block of Second Avenue.

When police got to the scene, they say they found the wounded teen and took him to a local hospital.

After interviewing potential witnesses, police say they spotted a car they believe was involved in the shooting. Police say the car failed to pull over when police tried to stop it, leading to a police chase that lasted for about four minutes.

The car was pulled over near the intersection of Jericho and Summer Hill in Aurora Township, according to police, and "multiple people" were taken into custody, per a police press release.

Police are still investigating the shooing. They're asking anyone with information to call the Aurora Police Department at 630-256-5500.
