The fire injured a firefighter and left the home uninhabitable.
AURORA, IL — An Aurora teenager jumped from a second-story window to escape a fire that gutted the townhouse where he lives. The fire broke out shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Monomoy, according to fire officials. A firefighter was also treated for minor injuries after the incident.
Less than a day earlier, fire crews were at the townhome cleaning up fire hydrants that had been buried by snow, including the hydrant that was used to fight the fire.
Heavy smoke was coming from the second story of the townhome when police arrived, according to a press release. The teen who had jumped was taken to Presence Mercy Hospital for treatment of injuries. The other residents were able to get out of the building without harm.
