Candles Start Aurora Garage Fire

The blaze caused more than $20,000 worth of damage.

AURORA, IL — A garage fire in the 1200 block of Grove Street in Aurora caused more than $20,000 worth of damage.

Aurora firefighters responded to the blaze at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, crews found a 1-car detached garage with heavy fire showing. It took 12 firefighters just over half an hour to extinguish the fire.

Aurora Fire Investigators said the cause was due to unattended candles burning in the garage.

The cost of damage was estimated at $20,000 for the structure, approximately $1,500 for the property and $2,500 for a car that was parked in the driveway and was damaged by the fire.

There were no injuries reported.
