11-Year-Old Girl Escapes Carjacker In Aurora: Cops

Police say the young girl leapt out of the car while it was accelerating, but she was not injured.

AURORA, IL — A man is in custody after he allegedly attempted to steal a car from a gas station in Aurora while an 11-year-old girl was still inside early Friday. Police say Tyrelle L. Pulley, 20, of the 5000 block of S. Princeton Ave., got into the car while its owner was getting ready to pump gas. The owner's daughter who was inside the vehicle jumped out while Pulley was accelerating to get out of the parking lot, but police say she was not injured.

Police later spotted the vehicle near the Eisenhower Expressway and I-88 and began pursuing the suspect eastbound. Pulley then allegedly crashed into another car, police say, and he was arrested without incident. There were no injuries reported in that collision.

Investigators say they later learned that Pulley had gotten out of a blue Dodge Charger before the alleged carjacking. Police are currently looking for any information about the driver of that vehicle.
