Christmas Tree Pickup: See When Aurora's Waste Hauler Will Take Them
Aurora residents will have two weeks to bring their live Christmas trees out to the curb for free pickup.

AURORA, IL — As Christmas is now in the rearview window, some residents might be preparing to take down their decorations.
In Aurora, the city's waste hauler, Groot, will pick up live trees starting Jan. 9 through Jan. 20. During this period, no refuse stickers will be needed. After those two weeks, residents will be required to attach a refuse sticker to the tree and set it at the curb for regular pickup.
All materials, including plastic bags, ornaments, lights, and nails, should be removed from the tree. Live wreaths and garlands can be thrown out in regular garbage bins.

"Help the environment by making sure your real Christmas tree is reused as mulch and isn’t taken to a landfill," officials said in an alert Tuesday.
