City Project to Address Basement Sewer Backups, Street Flooding

The sewer project will get underway near High and Illinois this week.

The city of Aurora will begin a sewer separation project near the intersection of High Street and Illinois Ave this week.

This project will help reduce basement sewer backups, street flooding and sewer overflows into the Fox River.

The following roadways will be impacted:

  • Illinois Ave from Root Street to High Street
  • High Street from Illinois Avenue to Mountain Street
  • Mountain Street from High School to Sheridan Street
  • Sheridan Street from Mountain Street to Sheffer Road
Throughout the duration of the project, many roadways in the immediate area will be closed to through traffic with detour routes posted. Parking will be restricted within the project areas and along detour routes as necessary.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2016.
