City Seeks Nominations for Grand Marshal of Memorial Day Parade
The nomination deadline is 5 p.m. on April 29.

Submission by the city of Aurora
The city of Aurora is accepting nominations for the 2016 Grand Marshal of the annual Memorial Day Parade. The nomination deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 29.
Nominees must be veterans, active military personnel, or supporters of veterans' causes. In addition, nominees should be current or long-time past residents of Aurora who have made significant contributions to the City of Lights.

If selected, nominees must be willing and available to serve as grand marshal, receive recognition at an Aurora City Council meeting, attend a special reception, and lead the parade.
Former grand marshals have included Jim Morsovillo of Operation Welcome You Home (2014) and veterans and long-time Aurora residents Joe and Helen Rippinger (2015). Those who have been nominated previously, but not selected, may be nominated again.

Nomination forms are available at www.aurora-il.org/events/permits.php or by calling the City of Aurora Special Events office at 630-256-3370.
The Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 30, 2016, at noon in downtown Aurora.
