Aurora student earns music degree from Bob Jones University

Andrew Weiss, a resident of Aurora, was among over 700 students who graduated from Bob Jones University Friday, May 5.

Weiss graduated with a BS in Music.

In addition to 570 students earning bachelor's degrees, 94 students received master's degrees and 58 students received associate degrees. Three candidates earned doctorate degrees.

Aurora students earn University of Nebraska-Lincoln degree

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred a record 3,753 degrees during commencement exercises May 19 and 20.

The 3,669 graduates are from 59 countries; 47 states, the District of Columbia and Guam; and more than 240 Nebraska communities.

Following is a list of area graduates:

  • Aurora: Erik Andrew Swedo, Graduate Studies, Master of Business Administration.
  • Aurora: Michael Thor Walker, College of Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Science.
  • Aurora: Jacqueline Marie Wollschlaeger, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Bachelor of Science in Animal Science.
  • Montgomery: Brittany Anne Hahl, College of Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Arts.

UW-Whitewater announces dean's list

The following students were named to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Dean's List for the 2023 spring semester.

These students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.

Aurora student included on Harding University dean’s list

Creed Daniel, a sophomore, studying accounting & finance, is among more than 1,100 Harding University students included on the dean's list for grades achieved during the spring 2023 semester.

The dean's list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, University provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarships. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

Aurora student honored with award by Millikin University

The Millikin University community gathered again for the annual Honors Convocation and Distinguished Faculty Lecture on Thursday, April 27, at Kirkland Fines Arts Center to honor faculty, staff and student accomplishments as the 2022-23 academic year approaches its close.

Over 90 awards were presented to Millikin students and faculty who were honored for their commitment to academic excellence. During the event, Itzel Garcia, of Aurora, received the Margaret Burkhardt Johnson Award.

Finance degree goes to Aurora student

Sebastian Gutierrez of Aurora [60502] graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from St. Ambrose University during the May 20, 2023, commencement ceremonies at The Vibrant Arena at The MARK.

Aurora student inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society

Forty-eight students at Augustana College, in Rock Island, Ill., recently were inducted into the college's Phi Beta Kappa chapter.

This national academic honor society recognizes scholarly achievement, character, integrity, and independence of mind. Members are elected by faculty. The election is less a reward for past success than a recognition of exceptional promise for future growth and achievement.
