College Credits: Aurora Students Make Fall 2023 Dean's Lists

Area students from Aurora are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Aurora native receives bachelor’s degree

Anish Kharel, of Aurora, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Berea College conferred on December 20, 2023.

Berea College recognized 77 students on Sunday, December 10 during its Mid-Year Recognition Ceremony. Berea alum Dr. Betty Hyatt Olinger addressed the students, who represented 21 states and 3 different countries.

Dr. Olinger began her career as a nurse after graduating from Berea College in 1969, taking her first job as a nurse and supervisor at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. Olinger married her husband David-also a Berea alum- in Danforth Chapel the day after their graduation. The couple moved to Rhode Island and, while there, Olinger expanded her career to nursing education, teaching for three years at the Newport Hospital School of Nursing.

President’s list at Southeast Missouri State University includes Aurora student

Madison Sniegowski of Aurora, IL, has been named to the Southeast Missouri State University President's List for academic achievement during the fall 2023 semester.

Students named to the list earned at least a 4.0 grade point average and completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit in a semester.

Fall 2023 dean's list at Olivet Nazarene University

Aurora students were named to the Olivet Nazarene University dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester.

  • Sarah McClain of Aurora (60504)
  • Maggie Sims of Aurora (60502)
  • Ruby Vega of Aurora (60505)

To qualify for inclusion on the Dean's List, a student must have been enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 grading scale.

University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences announces dean’s list

More than 1,900 undergraduate students have qualified for the Fall 2023 College of Arts and Sciences Dean's List at the University of Kentucky. Among them are:

  • Sandy Nino of Aurora (60505). The student's major is psychology
  • Abigail Malartsik of Aurora (60502). The student's major is psychology
  • Abigail Kinnavy of Aurora (60503). The student's major is psychology
