Police say the officer also hit a car that turned in front of him and then a traffic light before crashing into the auto shop.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora Police car crashed into a local mechanic's shop while the driver was responding to a call of a burglary in progress early Sunday. The officer hit a car, then a traffic signal before plowing through the facade of the shop at 1004 E. New York St., causing "substantial" damage, according to police.
Police say the officer was en route to a burglary in the 1000 block of Claim St. when a car turned in front of his squad car at E. York St. Dan Ferrelli, spokesperson for Aurora Police, said the officer tried to avoid the car before "slightly striking it" and then hitting a traffic signal.
The officer then drove into the auto shop, causing what Ferrelli described as "substantial damage" to the building and the police car.
