Cops ID Man Who Was Fatally Shot, Crashed Car In Aurora

Police say the man sustained a gunshot wound before crashing into a fence near Dearborn and Beckwith.

AURORA, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man who was found dead after he sustained a gunshot wound and crashed his car into a fence near the intersection of Beckwith Street and Dearborn Avenue. Police say Salvatore Sciascia, 19, was fatally shot before the Jan. 5 crash.

After an autopsy, Sciascia's preliminary cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the chest. Toxicology samples are currently pending.

Sciascia's death is currently being investigated by the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force and the Kane County Coroner's Office.
