Coronavirus: Holy Angels School Seeking Donations For Food Pantry

The school is asking people to drop off donations of food and supplies Thursday and Friday to restock the Holy Angels Food Pantry.

AURORA, IL — Teachers at Aurora’s Holy Angels School will be collecting food and supplies from city residents and the school’s families during a two-day drive-thru event this week. The school is asking for donations of food and supplies to restock the Holy Angels Food Pantry and support members of the community who are in need during the coronavirus shutdown.

The two-day drive runs from 2-6 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Holy Angels School, located at 204 S. Russell Ave., according to a news release. Holy Angels teachers will collect donations from vehicles in the drop-off line and greet students while practicing social distancing, the release states.

The Holy Angels Food Pantry is in “dire need” of food and supplies, including pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned vegetables, canned potatoes, cookie mixes, toilet paper, baby wipes and diapers, the release states. The pantry does not currently need canned fruits, cereals, gelatin dessert mixes and canned meats, but all donations are “always welcome,” school officials say in the release.

School officials are asking people to place their donations on the passenger side of the backseat or in the trunk to allow teachers to safely grab them from the vehicle. Monetary donations are being accepted online at osvonlinegiving.com/27.
