Death Of 31-Year-Old Man, Killed In Crash, Under Investigation: PD
A car was driving south on Edgelawn Drive when it disobeyed a stop sign and hit a car in the intersection before crashing into a tree.
AURORA, IL — The death of a 31-year-old Aurora man killed in a Wednesday afternoon car crash is under investigation by police, officials said in a Thursday update.
Officers responded to the scene of the crash, at the intersection of South Edgelawn Drive and Prairie Street, around 2:08 p.m. after receiving a report of a crash with injuries.
Following an investigation into the incident, police determined the car was driving south on Edgelawn Drive when it disobeyed a stop sign and hit a car in the intersection before crashing into a tree, officials said.

The driver and car's sole occupant, identified as Axel Morales, was found unconscious and not breathing. The man, of the 2100 block of Charleston Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the driver of the other car was taken to a local hospital and evaluated for possible injury before they were released the same day.

Portions of South Edgelawn Drive and Prairie Street were temporarily closed while personnel from Aurora Police Department's Traffic Unit conducted an investigation. Officers issued an alert at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding street closures and updated the post at 10:15 p.m. to say the roads were open.
