Dog Dies In Aurora House Fire Contained To Kitchen: AFD
Three adult residents were displaced as a result of the fire on Lakeview Drive.
AURORA, IL — A dog was killed, and three adults were displaced, in a house fire that broke out May 2 in the 200 block of Lakeview Drive in Aurora, officials said.
A total of 25 personnel responded at 1:17 p.m. to the two-story, single-family residence after the homeowner reported returning home and discovering smoke inside the house.
Crews contained the fire to the kitchen, officials said in a news release Wednesday.

Initial reports indicated people were still in the house when the fire started, but first responders confirmed all residents safely evacuated prior to firefighters' arrival.
Firefighters safely rescued a cat and reunited it with the homeowner, but the dog did not survive, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as of Wednesday.
"Quick coordination between responding crews helped contain the fire and prevent further spread throughout the home," Aurora Fire Deputy Chief Kevin Nickel said in a statement. "This incident also serves as an important reminder to ensure working smoke alarms are installed and properly maintained."
