Drunk Driver Seriously Injured After Crashing into Tree: Cops

The 23-year-old Aurora man was taken to Edward Hospital early Saturday morning.

Naperville, IL — An alleged drunk driver was seriously injured after he crashed into a tree.

Lucas Johnson, 23, of Aurora, was driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant on northbound Rickert Drive near Sanctuary Lane at 2:20 a.m. July 2 when he lost control of his car, left the road and crashed into a tree, according to the Naperville Police Department.

Johnson was taken to Edward Hospital for serious injuries, police said. Rickert Drive between Sanctuary Lane and Book Road was closed until 6:45 a.m.

Johnson has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage, police said.
