East Aurora District 131 Celebrates Black History Month
On February 22, District 131 celebrated Black History Month with a district-wide celebration at East High.

On February 22, District 131 celebrated Black History Month with a district-wide celebration at East High. The event, entitled “20/20 Vision: Do You See Me?” brought together students, staff and community members. The program began in the Hawks Auditorium, with student performances, video, and an inspirational gospel choir performance under the direction of Barbetta Neil. The celebration concluded in the cafeteria with a delicious soul food meal.

Thank you to all our amazing performers and dedicated planners who made the celebration special, including students from our Tomcat NJROTC Color Guard, Cowherd Middle School, Simmons Middle School, Waldo Middle School, students from the Johnson Dual Language Program, Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy, and seniors from East High. Special thanks to the District 131 Black History Gospel Choir, under the direction of Barbetta Neil, our good friends at Sodexo, and the 2020 Black History Month Celebration Committee!
