Monday, November 8 was just another ordinary school day and lunch period for Simmons Middle School 6th grade student Citlaly Bustamante. That is until her sister Yamileth walked into the lunchroom to surprise her. Yamileth Bustamante is a 2018 graduate of East Aurora High School who enlisted in the Navy soon after graduating. For the past three years, Yamileth has been serving our country while stationed in Japan.
When Yamileth left home, 11-year-old Citlaly was 8, and she had not seen her older sister since that time. The sisters reunited today. Yamileth will be home until the end of the month when she returns for duty in Japan. “It feels amazing to be home,” said Yamileth. “It’s been a long time.” What an exciting day for the Bustamante Family and the 6th graders at Simmons. Thank you, Yamileth, for your service!
