February Aurora First Fridays Brings Live Music, 1920s Party

AURORA, IL — First Fridays Aurora promises a 1920s cocktail party, live body painting, an open mic competition and more for its February installment. The Feb. 7 event marks the start of the art celebration's 8th season with live music and art installations in downtown Aurora.
Here's a rundown of some of the festivities you can expect at the Feb. 7 Aurora First Fridays.

Amy Morton's Stolp Island Social will host a Roaring '20s cocktail party from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. that spotlights a scratch cocktail list of Prohibition-era drinks.

Waubonsee Community College Aurora Downtown campus library
18 S. River St.
High school jazz ensembles and a ceramics exhibit are among the offerings you'll find at this venue, which also features wheel-throwing demonstrations and free T-shirt printing in the library's cafe space from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Balderas Beauty Salon
25 N. Broadway
From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., visitors can stop by to paint a cake or decorate cookies. Artist Jose Art will be on hand to do live body painting.
Endiro Coffee
29 W. New York St.
The coffee shop will feature live music by Mirabelle Skipworth, along with art by Joshua Schultz from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Gremlen Studios
130 W. Downer Pl.
Gremlen Studios will host an open mic competition from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a chance to win two hours of studio time. To enter, email jillian@gremlenstudios.com.
Aurora Regional Fire Museum
53 N. Broadway
Kids can stop by Aurora Regional Fire Museum from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to make a fire helmet Valentine's Day card or hat.
