FOX VALLEY — Lent has officially begun, and with it comes the tradition of Friday fish fries.
There are several groups and businesses throughout the Fox Valley region serving up delicious fried fish every Friday during the Lenten season. Whether you're an observing Christian or just a local foodie looking for a good seafood dinner, Patch has compiled a list of nearby events.
Christina's Grill & Gatherings, 3516 Route 34, Oswego

- Menu includes fried cod, haddock and other fish varieties as well as homemade chips, fries and coleslaw.
- Taking place every Friday during Lent. Call 630-554-8905 for reservations since restaurant seating fills up.
American Legion Post 675, 19 W. Washington St., Oswego
- Taking place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fridays. Available as dine-in or carry-out.
- See bartender for a menu of meals, which are served at the bar.
Gillerson's Grubbery, 33 W. New York St., Aurora

- Lenten menu items, which will be worked into the regular menu during all business hours, include shrimp tacos, smoked salmon grilled jalapeno poppers, smoked salmon caesar salad and shrimp scampi.
- Available from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting March 4 through Easter weekend.

Luxies Club, 416 High St., Aurora
- Dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. during Lent.
- Menu includes Icelandic fried cod, broiled cod, catfish, jumbo shrimp, fried mushrooms and fried mozzarella sticks. All dinners include baked potato or fries, coleslaw and a roll. Prices vary between $9 and $13.
- Friday specials include $12 fried walleye. $1 discount available from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on all eat-in meals during Lent.

Columbia Knights of Columbus Council 2191 at the Enticing Cuisine banquet hall, 1117 N. Washington Ave., Batavia
- Menu includes fried and baked cod, fried catfish, breaded shrimp, rigatoni alla vodka. Sides include salad, french fries, hush puppies and vegetables.
- Cost, which includes dessert and a drink, is $13 for adults and $7 for children. Kids under 4 eat for free.
- Taking place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays during Lent.
Pal Joey's Restaurant & Bar, 2030 Main St., Batavia
- All-you-can-eat fish fry available starting March 2.
- Meals are available as dine-in or carry-out.
Batavia Moose Lodge, 1535 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia
- First Friday of Lent means family fish fry at the lodge. Open 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Open to members and their qualified guests.
FoxFire Restaurant, 17 W. State St., Geneva
- Menu includes all-you-can-eat ginger beer-battered cod made with Windmill Ginger Brew. For $20.95, the meal includes fish, fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce.
- Reservations by calling 630-232-1369 and arriving early are suggested.
The Evergreen Pub & Grill, 1400 W. Main St., St. Charles
- A new menu is being released in time for Lent. Items include cod, perch, walleye and jumbo shrimp, all with the option of all-you-can-eat. Several sides are available, including chips, cajun or waffle fries, veggies, soup, onion rings, cheese curds and coleslaw. Prices vary from $14 to $25.
- Catch-of-the-day fish, in partnership with E&S Fish Company, available at market price.
